I will be taking part in the Alzheimer’s Society Epping Forest Memory Walk on Sunday 15 September 2013.
Dementia is an issue close to the hearts of many of us here at HRS. Dementia can be extremely difficult to live with and sadly, it also has an affect on close friends and family. This Sunday I will be heading through the leafy paths of the beautiful Essex Woodland and taking part in the Alzheimer’s Society Epping Forest Memory Walk.
Memory Walk in partnership with Bupa Care Homes is a series of fundraising walking events taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland every September, all raising money to provide vital support to people living with dementia and help our research to find a cure for the future.
The term 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning. There are many types of dementia. The most common are Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse.
Every September, people bring their friends an family along to an amazing fundraising event - Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk. Some people walk to be amongst others who truly understand. Others walk to remember loved ones. All walk with one goal: fighting dementia www.memorywalk.org.uk.
For every walker who takes part in the Bupa Memory Mile, Bupa Care Homes will donate £2.50 to Alzheimer’s Society. Memory Walk 2012 raised over £1.4million for the first time ever, hopefully this year that record will be beaten!
