Why Work in Recruitment?

why work in recruitment

If you love working with people to help them achieve their goals and aspirations, recruitment might be the right job for you.

As a recruiter, you'll work with both job seekers and companies to help match the perfect people to different job roles. A great recruiter is someone who gets to know their candidates and is able to place them in their dream jobs.

But how do you know if recruitment is right for you? Let's take a look at a few reasons why you should work in the recruitment industry.

The recruitment industry is constantly expanding

With the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic still lingering, people are keen to find jobs that have some level of security. According to a recent study, between 2008 and 2018, the recruitment industry grew on average 27% per year. Why is this? Well, the recruitment industry is constantly expanding and adapting and can continue to grow throughout periods of economic uncertainty.

Let's look at the past year for example. Lots of people (sadly) lost their jobs due to COVID-19. While that is, of course, devastating for these individuals, it does mean that the recruitment industry has become more important than ever. As a recruiter, you'll be helping people from all kinds of situations, whether they've recently made redundant or are simply looking for a career change, you become an important part of their job hunting journey.

Recruiters are important & valuable!

People don't realise how valuable recruiters are until they're looking for their dream job. A lot of the time, people looking for jobs (or companies looking to hire) are incredibly busy, meaning the recruitment process is rushed, put-off, or even given up on all together! Having a recruiter who can help you find your dream job (or the perfect candidate) can save a lot of time and money. After all, hiring someone who's a bad fit for a job can cause so many problems later down the line.

For that reason, recruitment has become a very important and well-respected industry to work in. A lot of big companies wouldn't have the talented workforce they have today if it wasn't for highly skilled and dedicated recruiters doing a lot of the leg work for them.

Why is Recruitment Important?

Recruitment is fun and rewarding

Above all else, working as a recruiter can be both rewarding a lot of fun. You'll get to meet a lot of interesting people, get to know their personal and educational backgrounds and work alongside them to find a job that they'll enjoy for the foreseeable future. You'll build great relationships with different companies and get to understand the inner workings of their industry and the amazing people that they employ. Working hard as a recruiter, there'll be opportunities to win awards and partake in networking events, and you'll go home every night knowing that you've made a real difference in people's lives!
