Last Saturday (13 July 2019), the inaugural Apprentice Cup took place at Epping St John's School in Epping, Essex. This special charity football match saw Ricky Martin and the HRS five-a-side squad take on 2014 Apprentice winner Mark Wright and his Climb Online team.
The stakes were high: in addition to the shame of coming in second, the losing side's manager would have to donate £1,000 of his own money to Alzheimer's Society, a UK charity that funds research, campaigns for change, and supports people affected by dementia all over the country.
How did the match go? Well, watch the video and see for yourself...
By the final whistle, the score was Hyper Recruitment Solutions 8, Climb Online 1 - which meant that it was Mark who ended up giving a grand of his own cash to the Alzheimer's charity, although both companies donated an additional £500 each!
Everyone here at HRS is very proud, both of our resounding victory on the football pitch and of the money we've helped to raise for this very worthy cause. If you're able to spare anything, please consider clicking the link below and donating to support Alzheimer's Society and the amazing work they do.

Founded in 1989, Edinburgh Science is an educational charity that strives to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to take an interest in science and discover the world around them. The one thing that Edinburgh Science is best known for is organising the Edinburgh Science Festival, the world's first public celebration of science and technology, which occurs on an annual basis and is currently running until Sunday 21st April.
The two-week festival offers attendees all sorts of incredible experiences via a diverse programme of innovative events all centred around a specific theme. This year, the theme of the festival is Frontiers, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings as well as the spirit of adventure and enquiry that continues to push science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
There will be a focus on several specific areas over the course of the festival, including:
- Healthcare Frontiers
- Engineering Frontiers
- Planetary Frontiers
- Digital Frontiers
- Environmental Frontiers
These focus areas provide a platform for the brightest minds in science, engineering and technology to share new and exciting ideas based on cutting-edge research.
A number of new venues and partners have been included in this year's edition of the science festival, with the aim of exploring the forefront of science and celebrating the inspiring people who are dedicated to furthering the frontiers of the world's collective knowledge!

I am pleased to confirm I will be speaking at BioWales 2014 in March. The conference will focus on growth and delivery within the Life Sciences sector and on the opportunities and support available to new investors and established companies in Wales.
I graduated as a Biochemist at Cardiff University in 2006, this subsequently fuelled my passion for a career in the Life Science sector. Since then I spent over 7 years working in the recruitment sector on behalf of the science community. I thoroughly enjoyed working in the recruitment industry talking to clients and candidates from the science field suporting science jobs / science careers, so I felt I had the relevant qualifications and experience to set up my own recruitment agency to really help enhance and drive support careers in the science industry.
Science is a subject I am very passionate about which I live and breath every day. My ambition is to develop the landscape of science recruitment and make a positive impact to the Science & Life Sciences industries. Hyper Recruitment Solutions remain dedicated and committed to supporting essential scientific research to assist in the improvement and quality of life for all. As a specialist recruitment consultancy, forming valuable relationships with like minded companies and organisations provide HRS with an excellent business network. This enables us to provide science jobs and life science jobs to industry experts who are passionate about working in this field. We support science jobs at all levels and from any discipline.
A fantastic line up of speakers will be discussing advances in Regenerative Medicine and Diagnostics which provides so many promising options for the future treatment of some major diseases, such as cancer, nervous system diseases, damaged organs and degenerative diseases. Speaking at the BioWales conference will be a great opportunity for me to celebrate life sciences in the same town I began my career in all those years ago. To be amongst like minded commercially orientated scientific professionals will be a great celebration for life sciences in South Wales.
The BioWales Conference will take place 6th - 7th March at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
Rewarding and recognising excellence in recruitment
The REC's Institute of Recruitment Professionals Awards (IRPs) celebrate professional excellence and the inspirational work carried out by the recruitment industry’s brightest and best stars. An IRP Award is the most prestigious recognition an individual or company can receive in the recruitment industry. This year, I am pleased to announce I have been shortlisted for the category of ‘Business Leader of the Year’.
The IRPs recognise and honour the achievements and best practice of both individual recruiters and recruitment businesses as a whole. The IRPs are unique in raising awareness for the industry's positive role models whose exceptional works and candidate and client care sets the bar for all recruitment professional and business to aspire to. The IRP Awards are the only recruitment sector awards hosted and awarded by REC to recognise the very best individuals and companies within recruitment. Recognising achievement across all levels and different disciplines, the awards are a true reflection of the UK’s recruitment talent (REC Awards 2013).
